The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Oyo State Command and the Disaster Management Unit had deployed Rescue Teams to all Highways in the State to mitigate against Road Accidents in the EMBER MONTHS and also Sensitize the General Public in Preparedeness and approach needed as we enter the Period of Heavy Rainy Season.
This was made known on Tuesday by the Oyo state Commandant, Iskilu Akinsanya during lecture organized for officers in disaster management units and intelligence department in preparedness for ember month.
Also the Nigeria Metrological Agency (NIMET) earlier forecast of a climate change which might result to flooding in the state and this is to showcase how much more public need a Solid awareness Campaign to avert such hazard in their environment.
While addressing the residents in Ibadan Metropolis, ACC SHEHU UMARU the Head of Disaster management Unit said that all hands are on deck to put flood incident under control,he also hinted that knowledge is a fragile Empowerment tools in preparedness and Curbing the hazard of flooding in our environment.
Commandant Iskilu Akinsanya Stated further that the Corps has partnered with the Independent Petroleum Marketers Associations of Nigeria (IPMAN) to bring down all illegal domestic cooking Gas Vendors outlets erected in an unauthorised location across the state to prevent fire outbreaks
Meanwhile, the State Commandant of NSCDC enjoined the people of the State to Cooperate by taking all Precautions laid down by Government which says No dumping of Refuse on the water ways,Cleaning of Drainage and adequate Disposal of Refuse and to follow Covid-19 Protocols that is,Compulsory Use of Nose Mask,Maintenance of Social Distance,Washing of hand with Clean Water and Use of Sanitizer.
He enjoined the people of oyo state to volunteer information to nip crime in the bud during the ember month.
