Gubernatorial candidate of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in Oyo State, Mr. Hakeem Alao has said that he would pay outstanding arrears being owed pensioners within three months of his being sworn in should he emerge as governor of the state in the forthcoming election.
Speaking at the official flag off campaign of the party at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, Alao, who promised to give the welfare of pensioners utmost priority it deserved, said “the government to be directed by the AD in the state will show much concern to the plight of our senior citizens popularly referred to as pensioners.”
He went on: “I also promise that their monthly pension will be regularly paid.
“We will within three months in office release fund for the payment of their outstanding arrears. I will make sure that our pensioners are well taken care of. If you pay the pensioners their regular arrears, and the civil servants are well taken care of, the society will be at peace because money will be in circulation.
“In tandem with the agelong tradition and history of our party and in view of the identified ills, I have christened my agenda as “Road Map to Redemption” through which together with my team, we have come up with what is called the Super Five Agenda, focusing on economic revitalization, free and qualitative education, effective and efficient health care and environmental services, industrialization, youth empowerment and sports development.”
