Oyo state Commissioner of Health and a governorship aspirant under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Azeez Popoola Adeduntan has resigned from his position as Commissioner of Health in the State.
Dr. Adeduntan’s resignation follows his decision to contest the forthcoming governorship primary of the APC in the Pacesetter State.
A statement from his media office said Dr. Adeduntan, having served meritoriously in his capacity as commissioner of health, resigned voluntarily to pursue his gubernatorial ambition with all the seriousness it deserves.
Governor Abiola Ajimobi had directed all political appointees, who are aspirants for various political positions to resign from their current offices
Recall that the governorship aspirant had recently obtained and submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to contest in the coming APC primary.
With Adeduntain into the contest, the number of aspirants jostling for the APC governorship ticket has reached eight. The eight are to enter the race for the party’s ticket through indirect primary adopted by the party in the state.
This also shows that the consensus approach Governor Abiola Ajimobi preached to the aspirants may have crumbled.
