Mrs Omobosola Owolabi Golohor, on Tuesday emerged as the gubernatorial candidate of Democratic Peoples Party (DPP), Oyo state for the 2019 governorship election in the state.
Golohor, a native of Itesiwaju local government in the state was returned unopposed by the 57 delegates of the party in a primary conducted at the party’s state secretariat, number 12, Adesola Budale street, off Olorunsogo, Ibadan Lagos expressway, Ibadan.
The primary was supervised by two national officers from the party’s headquarters in Abuja, Director of Administration, Mr Prosper Ogheneokaio and the secretary of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter of the party, Honourable Attoe Oyube, and two representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The 57 delegates then returned Mrs Golohor unopposed with the motion from Mr Olugbenga Alabi from Ibadan South East local government and Mr Waheed Olayiwola from Oyo West local government
A Computing and Information systems engineer, Golohor vowed that she is ready to rule the state with the passion to “for a new way” of governance that will make the state an enviable community throughout the world.
Golohor disclosed that men have been in control of the state since it was created on February 3, 1976, with no much development, saying the state is deteriorating every day.
Her words, “I will ensure that I make Oyo state the most progressive state in Africa in terms of economy, technology, innovation research and development. I will also build the capacity of men and women to move beyond poverty, training them in skills, methods, knowledge and leadership needed to take self-reliant actions so they can meet their own needs, improve their communities and build better futures for themselves and their children.”
