Ahead of the 2019 general elections, governor Abiola Ajimobi in the early hours of today, 17th November 2017, met with communications minister, Barrister Adebayo Shittu on the need to close ranks and move the state forward.
The meeting, which took place at the Oyo State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja around 1:00 am, saw the governor and the minister hugging each several times.
For close to two years, both Ajimobi and Shittu have not been friendly. Ajimobi, who was said to have opposed Shittu’s nomination as minister, later hosted the latter to a grand reception which took place in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. Later, they have both been firing salvo against each other, most times, through proxy.
Apart from Shittu, Ajimobi met a former House of Representatives member, Hon. Kamil Akinlabi and an incumbent, Hon. Olusegun Odebunmi.
Kamil, a former member of the APC and special adviser to the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, left the party for Labour Party, LP, in the build up to the 2015 election. He recently announced his defection to APC. Bunvic, as Odebunmi is called, recently defected to the APC from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
