Executive assistant to Governor Abiola Ajimobi on political matters, Dr. Morohunkola Thomas, has assured the people of the state that the governor would not appoint caretaker chairmen for council areas again.
Contrary to allegations that he is moving round to tell members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, that 10 delegates would be chosen per ward to select candidates for the forthcoming local government election, Thomas said “what me and my committee members have been doing in the last three weeks is consultation with party stakeholders across the state on selection of caretaker members.”
The three-term commissioner said that the allegation against his person are not only blatant but baseless and frivolous, adding that when it is time for primaries, the governor, as the leader of the party will liaise with the leadership of the party on the modalities for selecting those who would fly the party flags in the forthcoming council polls.
He told insideoyo.com: “My committee is comprised of the party secretary, women leader and others. You know we are choosing a lot of people to work with the appointed council chairmen; 67 secretaries and close to 500 members. It is a serious business. My committee isn’t working on delegates but caretaker committee members.”
“Just like the governor said last week while inaugurating new council chairmen, the LG election will be conducted after the expiration of this tenure. No more appointment into council. ”
He reiterated that the “I am only working on the mandate given me and my committee by our leader, Governor Abiola Ajimobi.”
