The All Progressives Congress APC in Oyo state has attributed the successful conduct of its Ward Congress to the demonstration of good spirit, dedication and commitment by its members and other stakeholders as well as the competence and diligence on the part of the Congress Committees deployed to the state by the national headquarters of the party.
APC commenced its nationwide congresses today with the conduct of the exercise at the Ward level which has produced executive committee meetings saddled with the responsibility of managing the affairs of the Party at the grassroots level in the next four years. Following the adoption of consensus by the leadership of the party in Oyo state, the exercise was absolutely peaceful and successful across the 351 Wards.
“In a statement issued today and made available to journalists in Ibadan by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, Oyo APC disclosed that the successful conduct of its Ward Congress was a pointer to the fact that stakeholders were committed to unity and harmony in their resolve to build a more virile and stronger party that would win future elections convincingly.
“The Ward Congress which took place across the state was largely peaceful as it was devoid of schism and protests. The tone for a successful exercise was set by the Congress Screening Committee led by Hon. Gombi Amos which did an excellent job on the candidates yesterday (Tuesday) while the Hon. Nadir Lar-led Congress Committee deserves accolades for conducting a Ward Congress which has been adjudged as transparent and credible.
“With the success recorded today, a threshold has been set for the smooth conduct of the Local Government Area Congress and State Congress scheduled for February 21 and March 3 respectively. We have again demonstrated to the whole world that we are a progressive party which is ready to aid the cause of democracy and good governance.
“As soon the State Congress is done successfully, the executive committees at all levels would swing into action and all hands would be on deck as we keep our eyes on the ball. Oyo APC will not only secure 80 percent of the total votes cast on the day of the Presidential and National Assembly election to its candidates, we will also win big to reclaim Agodi Government House and the State House of Assembly in 2027.” Sadare added.
