The Chairman, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Professor Adeolu Akande has finalised plans to dump the ruling All Progressives Congress for the Action Democratic Party (ADP).
Recall that Adeolu Akande had already shown interest in the gubernatorial race of the state under the APC before the Unity Forum, a breakaway faction left the party for African Democratic Congress (ADC).
InsideOYO.com can authoritatively report that both Adeolu Akande and the Minister of Communications, Barrister Abdulraheem Adebayo Shittu did not join the ADC.
A key member of the Adeolu Akande Movement who does not want his name mentioned told insideOYO.com that Adeolu Akande will start flooding the state with billboards and posters to sensitise the populace about his ambition in the new party.
Akande, who is one of the prominent members of the Unity Forum is said to be a close ally to the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun. He is said to have the backings of the Ogun state governor for his ambition in the new party.
In a related development, a close friend of Adeolu Akande told insideOYO.com that leaders of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Nigeria were the ones that approached him to join their party and run the guber race having seen that his plans and policies are in concordance with the party’s vision and mission.
Professor Akande, who hails from Otu in Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oke-Ogun in Oyo state bagged his doctoral degree in Political Science from the University of Ibadan over 20 years ago. He had earlier obtained his M.Sc and B.Sc (2nd Class Upper) in 1990 and 1987 respectively in the same institution.
He was appointed Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2001. He later became a Special Assistant (Research & Communication Strategies) to the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2003. In 2011 he was appointed the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Oyo State, Governor Isiaka Ajimobi.
