The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) held the investiture ceremony of Mrs. Faoziah Ayobami Oluokun as the 6th Chairman of the Oyo State Chapter on Saturday.
The event took place at Ighodalo Hall, Agbowo, Ibadan, and also featured the inauguration of other executive members of the chapter.
Mrs. Oluokun, a retired Permanent Secretary in the Oyo State Civil Service, made history as the first female chairman of the chapter.
A distinguished Chartered Public Administrator, Mrs. Oluokun is a fellow of several professional bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria.
Chief Bayo Oyero, Chairman of the occasion and former National President of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, commended ICSAN for its contributions to promoting governance and professionalism. He urged the new executives to prioritize member recruitment, training programs, and the visibility of ICSAN in Oyo State.
The National President and Chairman of ICSAN, Mrs. Funmilayo Tomilola Ekun, congratulated Mrs. Oluokun on her historic appointment, emphasizing the significance of women taking leadership roles in ICSAN.
Oba Abimbola Ajibola, Balogun of Ibadan, represented the Olubadan of Ibadan at the event. He praised ICSAN for its commitment to professionalism and reflected on his own membership journey with the institute, which began in 1968.
The formal handover of leadership was conducted by the outgoing chairman, Mr. Ilori Samson Adekunle, while Barrister Makinde administered the oath of office to the new chairman.
In his valedictory speech, the outgoing chairman congratulated Mrs. Oluokun and her team, pledging his support while encouraging them to build on the chapter’s achievements.
Awards were presented to notable individuals, including Barr. Abdul Raheem Adebayo Lawal, Deputy Governor of Oyo State; Chief Bayo Oyero, Chairman of the occasion; Mrs. Olubunmi Olufunke Oni, Head of Service, Oyo State; Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun, representing Oyo South Senatorial District; and Alhaja Amidat Ololade Agboola, immediate past Head of Service in Oyo State.
In her inaugural remarks, Mrs. Oluokun thanked the dignitaries and members present and outlined her plans to enhance member engagement, promote professional development, and expand the influence of ICSAN in Oyo State.
Other notable attendees included retired Permanent Secretaries, serving civil servants, former ICSAN executives, and members of ICSAN.
