The People of Irepo, Oorelope, Olorunsogo Federal Constituency were in joyous mood as work began on a Cassava Processing Plant in Igbeti, Olorunsogo local government area of Oyo state.
The cassava processing plant is a federal government project facilitated by the Honourable representing the federal constituency at the House of Representatives.
While speaking, Olumide said: “I believe in localization of industries, the demand for cassava and cassava processing products in global market is high and showing growing trend. Cassava chips have great demand in Europe, not only be used for feed, but also as important alcohol raw materials
“In Nigeria here, Cassava starch has a wide range of applications in the textile, paper and chemical industries.
“The cassava flour is a perfect substitute for wheat flour for the production of bread. As a government, it is therefore imparative for us to wisely use cassava as a major economic growth point, encouraging cassava processing, setting up cassava processing plant, increasing cassava exports, bringing foreign exchange earnings to Nigeria and raising the economy of our people.
“The cassava processing company when completed will produce products like flour, chips, garri etc. The product will be in large quantities will attract people across the globe.”
Ojerinde promised to keep delivering on his campaign promises as he promised to keep facilitating worthy projects to his constituency.
Recall that the lawmaker has earlier facilitated training for Farmers in the constituency which will continue next year according to him.
He said: “When the plant eventually takes off, it will serve as a catalyst that would enable farmers in the federal constituency to have access to market to sell their products.”
