The Oyo state government has confirmed that it has received the nomination letter of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Segun Olayiwola, confirmed this in a telephone interview with the Nigerian Tribune on Monday.
He said, “We have received the letter. We are working on it.
Recall that the kingmakers, led by Otun Olubadan and High Chief Rasidi Ladoja, held a meeting at Ojaba Palace over the vacant Olubadan stool.
The kingmakers nominated Oba Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan.
The Otun Balogun was absent having said that Oba Olakunlehin needed enough time to seek medical attention before the process.
The outcome of the meeting was supposed to be forwarded to Governor Seyi Makinde in accordance with the 1957 Declaration for final approval.
The meeting was held twenty-eight days after the demise of the late Oba Senator Lekan Balogun.
