As political conversations begin for the 2027 governorship race, a new voice is steadily gaining prominence within the Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). That voice belongs to Abdulsabur Abiola Olawore a technocrat, international consultant, and community leader whose ambition is already reshaping discussions about the future of governance in the state.

Mogaji of Ile Odefunke in Oke-Are, Abiola’s growing appeal lies not only in his political aspiration but in the depth of his roots within Ibadanland. Across communities and political divides, he is increasingly regarded as a unifying figure one whose emergence signals a blend of tradition, modernity, and inclusive leadership.

At 46, Abiola represents a generation many believe is ready to take the reins of leadership, young enough to be innovative, yet experienced enough to understand the complexities of governance. With an academic background in Civil Engineering, he has built a career that bridges technical expertise and executive leadership, spanning construction, real estate, and global consultancy.

Currently, he serves as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Atlas Multinational Synergy Nigeria Limited, where he has led major development initiatives since 2020. His leadership in the private sector has been marked by a focus on infrastructure development and strategic growth priorities that mirror his vision for Oyo State.

Yet, it is his international exposure that sets him apart in the evolving political landscape. In the United Kingdom, Abiola worked as an IT Engineer with Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs and contributed to critical banking infrastructure projects in London through his roles with Fujitsu and Capgemini. His journey later took him to the United States, where he served as a SAP/ERP Enterprise Resource Consultant with KPMG in Newark, New Jersey, gaining expertise in enterprise systems and financial management.

This rare combination of local grounding and global experience has fueled confidence among political observers and stakeholders who see in him a leader capable of navigating both domestic challenges and international opportunities. Many argue that his global network could serve as a gateway for foreign investments into Oyo State, particularly in infrastructure, housing, and economic development.

Adding further weight to his profile is his role as an Ambassador with the International Human Rights Commission. The position reflects not only international recognition but also a commitment to human rights, transparency, and accountable governance—values he says are central to his political philosophy.

Mogaji Olawore, a loyal PDP member from Ward 1, Ibadan North, Abiola has remained consistent in his alignment with the party’s ideals. However, his ambition is not merely about continuity, it is about evolution. As Seyi Makinde approaches the end of his tenure, Abiola is positioning himself as part of a new generation of leaders ready to consolidate on existing gains while introducing fresh ideas.

In early consultations with party leaders and grassroots stakeholders, he has outlined a forward-looking agenda anchored on infrastructure renewal, youth empowerment, economic expansion, and transparent governance. For him, the future of Oyo State lies in its ability to harness both human and material resources through strategic partnerships and innovative policies.

“Oyo State has the potential to lead in development and economic prosperity,” he said during one of his engagements. “But it requires vision, competence, and the right partnerships.”

Those close to the unfolding political dynamics note that his message is resonating especially among young people and professionals seeking a shift toward technocratic leadership. His emphasis on blending innovation with experience reflects a broader desire among citizens for governance that is both practical and forward-thinking.

As consultations deepen and alignments continue within the PDP and beyond, Abiola’s entry into the race is no longer seen as symbolic, it is increasingly viewed as strategic. His candidacy is shaping conversations, attracting attention, and positioning him as a formidable contender in the road to 2027.

Whether his ambition will translate into electoral victory remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: Ambassador Abdulsabur Abiola Olawore is not just entering the race, he is redefining it.
