An Oyo State governorship aspirant on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, Ambassador Abdulsabur Abiola Olawore, has declared that he possesses the requisite qualifications to succeed Governor Seyi Makinde in 2027, following his appearance before the party’s screening committee.
Olawore, an international consultant, made this assertion shortly after participating in the party’s governorship screening exercise, where aspirants were assessed on their competence, experience, and vision for the state.
Speaking with journalists after the exercise, the aspirant expressed confidence in both his performance and the integrity of the screening process. He described the committee as a body of distinguished individuals, carefully selected based on their track records and commitment to ensuring that only credible candidates emerge.
According to him, the screening panel comprised respected elders and statesmen entrusted with the responsibility of identifying aspirants with the leadership qualities required to govern Oyo State effectively.
“I just finished with the committee of elders assigned to screen and recommend a governorship candidate for His Excellency,” Olawore said. “I am impressed with the conduct of the screening and I have full confidence in the capacity of the committee members to objectively assess aspirants and their plans for the state.”
He added that the interaction with the panel provided an opportunity for him to articulate his vision for the continued development of Oyo State, noting that he shares in the progressive ideals of the current administration.
Olawore further commended Governor Makinde for what he described as remarkable achievements in office, stating that the outgoing administration has laid a solid foundation for sustainable growth and development.
“His Excellency has recorded significant successes in his administration, and I believe that if allowed to succeed him, I will build on these achievements and take Oyo State to greater heights,” Amb. Olawore said.
