The Oyo State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Dr. John Oyedokun Adewoye has called on the divisional officers across the state to be more vigilance in their community as the citizens prepares for Christmas, New Year celebrations and beyond.
Dr. Adewoye made the statement at the Command Headquarters, Agodi, Ibadan, while addressing the officers and men of the corps on security operations put in place during the yuletide period.
He expressed his optimism about the security of lives and properties of the citizens, and urged all officers and men to be proactive to their core mandate.
While addressing issues in area of protection of critical national assets and infrastructures during and after the festival, the State Commandant made it clear that monitoring of pipeline, surveillance, and all core mandate given to the NSCDC is a task that must be done right.
Commandant Adewoye stated further that, personnel that will be on duty during the festive period will comprise of Anti-Vandal, intelligence and investigation, Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear, CBRN, Counterterrorist Units, Disaster Management Unit and with ambulance on the highways, others on stationary and vehicular patrol throughout the period of the celebration across the state.
Meanwhile, the Commandant requested the support of Oyo State citizens to always inform the NSCDC anytime they suspect any unauthorized movement at the NNPC.
He urged Christians and citizens of the country to pray for peace and survival of the present democracy, as the nation is preparing for the 2019 general election.
The State Commandant advised parents and guardians to take care of their wards during the festive period, and to desist from using firecrackers (banger/knock out) to avoid fire disaster or cause distraction for the security agencies on patrol.
