A former Senate Deputy Whip and leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State, Senator Hosea Ayoola Agboola (a.k.a. Alleluyah) on Thursday dispelled fake news on social media that the coronavirus patient discovered in Ibadan was his daughter linked to the owner of A3 hotel in Ibadan.
Agboola in a telephone chat with reporters said, “how on on earth could any right thinking person concort a fake story on the ravaging Corona virus which everybody, including leaders across the globe are raising concern about, and looking for the way out to end its further spread.
“The writer was so numb, irresponsible and totally inhuman. The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Bashir Bello had at a press conference told the whole world that the Coronavirus victim discovered on Wednesday in Ibadan was a man in his 50s.
The health Commissioner, had said the man, in his 50s, arrived Bodija area of Ibadan from the United Kingdom, and has been isolated for the past four days.
“The UK returnee living in Ibadan had a temperature spike of 37.9 celsius and his blood sample was subsequently taken to Lagos COVID-19 testing facility of (NCDC),” Agboola further quoted the Commissioner.
He said why would anybody now say a coronavirus patient was a daughter of the owner of A3 hotel in Ibadan?
“Much likely to be a fraudster using internet to misinform the public. Or how do you describe a person who has been calling me through anonymous calls with the intent to possibly defraud me since Thursday morning?
“I use this medium to inform the public to disregard such misinformation and consider it as one of fake news trending everywhere.
“The A3 hotel is in tune with the global reality and we have put in place, safety measures to safeguard the health of our numerous customers,” Agboola added.
