Lead City University will host this year edition of Niyi Osundare International Poetry festival which is on the theme, “Literature and Governance: Finding a Convergence for National Development”.
The poetry festival will hold at the International Conference Centre of Lead City University, Ibadan, May 28 to 30, 2018.
The Keynote Speaker is a retired Federal Permanent Secretary, and Executive Vice Chairman, Ibadan School of Government and Public Policy, Dr. Tunji Olaopa.
The festival, according to its founder, Dele Morakinyo, will continue its tradition of rich performances in poetry, drama, music and dance.
“Academic discourse around the works of Professor Niyi Osundare, the renowned ‘people’s poet’ will feature literary giants drawn from Nigerian universities and the diaspora.
Highlights of the two-day carnival include a reading by the poet laureate of one of his recent poems and his interaction with over 200 secondary school students drawn from Ibadan and environs. Academics, public administrators, performing and literary artistes, book publishers, undergraduates and researchers are expected at the festival.
