Oba Owolabi Olakulehin has been nominated as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Olubadan in Council which is the traditional kingmakers of Ibadanland agreed to name Oba Olakulehin as the next Olubadan during their meeting, on Friday, in Ibadan, the you state capital.
He is the Most Senior High Chief in the Balogun line of Olubadan Chieftaincy Ascension.
He was nominated by the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Gbadamosi Adebimpe. The Otun Balogun, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola was absent.
Eighty-seven-year-old Olakulehin, the Balogun of Ibadan, is the head of the Balogun line to the throne.
Recall that his next-in-command, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, has alleged that he (Olakulehin) is not medically fit for the throne. He said he ought to be given time to recover before being nominated.
But High Chief Rashidi Ladoja, the Otun Olubadan, has dismissed Ajibola’s claim as a personal opinion “because he is not a physician.”
With the development, Oba Olakulehin will be addressed as the Olubadan of Ibadan.
He will then go through traditional rites shortly before he receives staff of office from the governor on coronation day that will be fixed by the state government.
