A Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan on Tuesday ordered the remand in prison of one Omotola Adedayo-Adedokun who allegedly defrauded two American ladies of $1,000 (N360,000).
Justice P.I. Ajoku ordered the remand of the defendant after he pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of false pretext and impersonation.
The judge adjourned the case till April 29 to hear the defendant’s bail application.
Earlier, S. Ibekuete, the counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Ibadan Zonal Office, had told the court that the defendant committed the crime in 2015 in Ibadan.
Ibekuete alleged that the defendant, under false pretext, impersonated as a travel agent and fraudulently obtained the sum of $500 each from two American ladies– Victoria Faz and Cariana Manbela.
The EFCC prosecutor said that the offences contravened Section 1 (1) (A) of the Advanced Free Fraud and other related Act, 2006.
