Sources in the Oyo state chapter of the African Democratic Congress told insideOYO.com on Sunday that plans have been completed to present Senator Olufemi Lanlehin as the party’s candidate for the 2019 general election.
The former senator was picked after leaders of the party met and agreed to use him as the party’s flagbearer in Oyo state in the 2019 general election. This decision is expected to be made known today at the party’s affirmation meeting which will hold in Ibadan, the state capital.
“The leaders of our party have agreed to use Senator Femi Lanleyin after numerous meetings. This decision threatened the party’s existence but Alhamdulilah God helped us to overcome”
“All things being equal, Lanlehin will be presented today at the affirmation venue in Ibadan”, the source said.

Recall that insideOYO.com had earlier reported that 13 aspirants obtained the party’s form to be the party’s flagbearer in 2019.
The aspirants are Engr. Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan, Senator Gbenga Babalola, Dr. Yunus Abiodun Akintunde, Alhaji Taofeek Oladejo Arapaja, Chief Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, Senator Solagbade Olufemi Lanlehin, Mr. Ayodele Adigun.
Others are Engr. Aderemi Oseni, Dr. Nureni Adeniran, Mr. Ayo Opatoki, Dr. Muhammed Kola Balogun, Chief Lowo Obisesan and Hon. Festus Adegoke.
However, further check by insideOYO.com revealed that some aspirants are not happy with the development.
Who is Solagbade Olufemi Lanlehin?
Solagbade Olufemi Lanlehin popularly known as SOLAN was born into the Illustrious Lanlehin family of Ibadan land. He had his secondary education at Ibadan Grammar School, Ibadan and Igbobi College, Yaba, Lagos.
Olufemi Lanlehin read law at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he earned a LLB (Hons) degree, went on to the Nigerian Law School where he earned a BL and was called to the Nigerian Bar in July 1977.
He has been a champion of ecological reform to address perennial flooding problems in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, making appeals to the Senate and for Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan.
