Oyo State governor, โSeyi Makinde, has felicitated the Muslim Ummah in the state and across Nigeria on the occasion of the Eid-el-Mawlid 2024.
The governor, in a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday, congratulated all Muslims on witnessing the Mawlid, calling on them to pray for Oyo State, Nigeria and the leadership at both levels.
According to him, the Mawlid, always celebrated on the 12th day of the third month of the Islamic Calendar, to mark the birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), is an important festival for all Muslims and should be used as another avenue to seek the face of Allah over the state of affairs in the country.
He said: โI congratulate all Muslims on the occasion of the Eid-el-Mawlid 2024.
โThe Mawlid has always been an important festival for the Muslim Ummah; a great opportunity for them to glorify Allah and the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
โWhile felicitating my Muslim brothers and sisters, I want to charge them to use the opportunity to pray more for our state and our nation.
โAs an administration, we have enjoyed the support and prayers of the Muslim Ummah in the last five years. But just as efforts cannot be too much, prayers cannot be too much. So, please pray more for things to turn around for the better in our nation.
โOn our part, we will continue to implement policies and programmes that will guarantee the wellbeing of the people and their freedom to practise their religions without inhibition or disturbance.
