The alumni of Ebenezer African Church Primary School, Oke Ado, Ibadan (EBASCO), class of 1964/1969, on Saturday, celebrated 60 years of enrollment into the school.
The reunion which took place in Ibadan had in attendance Former Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Mrs Yetunde Oni; Former Secretary to Ogun state government, Dr. Demola Adegbite; top retired civil servant; government functionaries; philanthropists; captains of industries; business mogul among others.
The President of the EBASCO 1964/1969 set, Kehinde Awe, stated the purpose of the gathering.
While noting that the government alone cannot fund education, he lamented the level of decadence in schools across the nation.
He urged everyone to support the government in restoring sanity.
His words: “It’s a momentous occasion for us to come together and commemorate our six decades of association with EBASCO. EBASCO has stood the test of time, and this reunion allows us to celebrate our shared experiences and achievements. We are glad to reconnect with each other, especially considering that some of us have not seen each other since we left EBASCO.
“What we are doing is to get ourselves together and make ourselves happy, see how to help less privileges among us and give back to the society and our Alma mater.”
Dr. Demola Adegbile, the Chairman of the Planning Committee of the program, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, saying, “As we reminisce about our days at EBASCO, it’s remarkable to see how far we have come and the impact our alma mater has had on our lives.
“This reunion serves as a testament to the enduring friendships and memories forged during our formative years.”
Dr. Tunde Odunsan, President of the All EBASCO Groups, emphasized the importance of staying connected with fellow alumni.
Odunsan said: “Our journey began at EBASCO, where we not only received an education but also learned valuable lessons about community and friendship. This reunion provides us with an opportunity to renew old acquaintances and strengthen the bonds that unite us.”
The event featured presentations of awards, medical talk, lunch, and dancing. Attendees also included old headmasters, friends and other esteemed guests.
