A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ibadan has remanded two suspects in the Agodi Correction Centre for the alleged murder of two persons in cold blood in Igboho town, Oorelope Local Government Area.
The Nigerian Tribune Newspaper reports that the suspects’ names were given as Kareem Tajudeen Baale and Ismail Jamiu.
They were arraigned on a 3-count charge bordering on conspiracy and murder, malicious damage and threat to life, and conspiracy assault occasioning harm.
The suspects, in one of the charges, were alleged to have conspired and killed an old man, Mr Oyedokun Jimoh, and one other person, Wasiu Jimoh, on their farmland in Odoowo Village, Igboho, Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State.
In other charges, they were accused of malicious damage, a threat to life, and conspiracy assault occasioning harm.
However, they pleaded not guilty to the charges as read.
The Chief Magistrate, O. O. Ogunkanmi, ordered them to be remanded at the Correctional Centre for alleged murder while granting them bail for the other two charges.
The bail conditions include payment of $5 million and two sureties, including a relative and a Level 14 officer in the Civil Service, for alleged malicious damage and a threat to life.
Also, they were granted bail in the sum of one million naira for alleged conspiracy and assault occasioning harm.
In a similar case, one Rasheed Quazeem was earlier remanded in prison for alleged murder and other offences.
The two cases have been adjourned until August 1, 2024.
