Following the spread of the pandemic key coronavirus in Nigeria, a member of House of Representatives, Shina Peller, has embarked on a three- day fasting and prayers to seek an end to the deadly disease.
The lawmaker, who represents Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola federal constituency in Oyo state, said in a Facebook post that he had completed day two of his three days fasting and prayers.
He sought God’s mercy to accept his acts of worship, forgive his sins, have mercy on Nigerians, and bring healing unto the country.
“As we continue prayers in earnest, I would like to urge us all, especially Muslims to add “Hasbunallahu Wa Ni’mal Wakeel” to our prayers and recite it as many times as possible for “Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs for us.”
Peller also enjoined the Nigerian Christians to participate in fasting and prayers in order to ward off the evil of pandemic coronavirus from the country.
He said: “Similarly, as we enjoin our Christian brothers and sisters to participate in fasting and prayers, I wish to highlight a Bible passage someone showed to me recently which also points to the necessity to turn to God in repentance and seek for forgiveness during times of great adversity.
“2 Chronicles 7:13-15: Whenever I hold back the rain or send locusts to eat up the crops or send an epidemic on my people, if they pray to me and repent and turn away from the evil they have been doing, then I will hear them in heaven, forgive their sins, and make their land prosperous again.
“May God accept our fasting and prayers, and forgive our sins. May God in His Infinite Mercy put an end to the coronavirus pandemic all over the world and restore peace, prosperity and healing back onto earth, amen.”
