Stakeholders of the Allied People’s Movement, APM and party leaders in ATISBO Local Government Area of Oyo State have reaffirmed their loyalty to Governor Seyi Makinde and the APM, following the resignation of the state Commissioner, Ayobami Ojo.
The stakeholders, at a meeting held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, expressed disappointment with Ojo’s decision to resign without consulting party leaders and other stakeholders in the local government.
In a communiqué issued after the meeting, they said the decision was particularly disappointing given the collective efforts and contributions of party members towards his appointment into the State Executive Council by Makinde.
The leaders also declared their continued support for the governor, saying the administration had brought significant development to Atisbo, which they described as a previously neglected local government area.
They cited the upgrade of the former cottage hospital in Tede to a general hospital at a cost of about N500m, the reconstruction of the abandoned Okudi-Saki access road in Tede and the establishment of a Mobile Police detachment in Ago-Are.
They also noted that the state government was constructing a multi-billion-naira barracks for the police formation, while several indigenes of the local government had benefited from political appointments and employment opportunities under the Makinde administration.
According to the stakeholders, the developments had strengthened their resolve to maintain their relationship with the governor, adding that Atisbo was not prepared to return to what they described as the era of neglect and discrimination before Makinde assumed office.
They urged the governor to retain the commissioner’s slot allocated to the local government, saying there were competent and committed individuals capable of continuing to contribute to the administration.
The stakeholders further declared their readiness to participate actively in the APM’s Reset Nigeria agenda, while reiterating their commitment to Makinde’s leadership and people-centred governance.
Those present at the meeting included the Atisbo Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Bashir Alade; the Governor’s Special Adviser on Legislative Matters, Hon. Samuel Adejumobi; and the APM Chairman in the local government, Alhaji Fatai Adejare.
Others were Hon. Nike Arewa, Alhaji Ismail Adedeji, Elder Debo Adejumobi and Alhaji Malik Hamzat, among other party leaders.
