Oyo State Government has ordered that all schools in the state should be shut till after the Easter holiday.
Addressing journalist at Government House, Governor Seyi Makinde, who is the Chairman of the Task Force on Covid-19 said the maternal healthcare centre at Olodo has been designated as the state infectious hospital.
He said emergency operation centres and two diagnostic centres would be set up within 72 hours in the state,adding that these are parts of the decisions reached by the Oyo State Covid-19 Task Force.
The governor further stated that no case of Covid-19 has been reported in the state, saying the result of the test on the UK returnee that has been in isolation at a location in Bodija returned negative.
He said the ongoing free medical outreach and workers verification exercise in the state has been suspended.
Although the Makinde did not expressly declare a ban on religious gatherings, he said all religious leaders are to comply with government directive on public gatherings, saying they are partners with the government in tackling the pandemic.
He added that two special dedicated ambulances will be bought to complement the efforts at curbing Covid-19 and also assured that he will give daily update on development in the state.
