A United Kingdom returnee who was isolated over suspected case of Coronavirus in his Bodija residence in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital has been tested negative, insideoyo.com reports.
This was made known by the Oyo state Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde on Friday during a press conference on the Coronavirus pandemic in Ibadan.
With this development, Oyo state does not have any confirmed case of coronavirus.
He said “We received the result of the suspected case which our Commissioner for Health, Dr B. V. A. Bello, discussed in his press conference on Thursday, March 19, 2020. The result is negative for Coronavirus.
“So, we currently don’t have any confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Oyo State.”
Recall that insideayo.com had earlier reported that a suspected case of Coronavirus in Ibadan, Oyo State, was being monitored.
The man, in his 50’s, who arrived Bodija area of Ibadan from the United Kingdom, was isolated.
The UK returnee living in Ibadan had a temperature spike of 37.9 celsius and his blood sample was subsequently taken to Lagos COVID-19 testing facility of (NCDC).
Aside this, insideoyo.com recalls that two other cases had earlier been reported in the state, with their test results turning out negative.
Meanwhile, the Oyo State Commissioner for Health, Dr Bashir Bello has stressed the need for residents of the state to adhere to hygienic precautionary measures to avoid an outbreak in the state.
He also urged individuals returning to the state from countries with the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak to self-isolate themselves under supervision for a period of 14 days before going out or mixing with the public.
