Experience, Vision, Impact: BJ Badmos Eyes Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Seat By Ahmed Salami

With the 2027 general elections approaching, attention is turning to Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency in Oyo State. Honourable Bolaji Saheed Badmos, popularly known as BJBadmos, is widely viewed as a potential candidate for the House of Representatives seat. Although he has not officially declared, his record in governance, community development, and legislative achievements positions him as a strong contender.

Hon. Badmos is a native of Akinyele Local Government Area. He is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, where he represented Akinyele Constituency II from 2015 to 2019 under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

During his tenure, he served as Secretary of the Parliamentary Council and Chairman, House Committee on Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters and State Honours, overseeing legislative reforms and community-focused policies.

He sponsored bills including the Oyo State Community Service Punishment Bill, aimed at decongesting prisons by allowing minor offenders to perform community service; the Oyo State Residents Registration Agency Bill, to create a database of all residents in the state; the Oyo State Corporate Responsibility Bill, encouraging corporate organizations to contribute to social development; and the Oyo State House of Assembly Self-Accounting Bill, ensuring legislative financial autonomy.

Hon. Badmos also moved motions on critical infrastructure and public services, including the repair of Abatakan Bridge on the Old Ibadan–Oyo Road, Isokun Bridge on Arulogun Road, grading of rural roads, and proper public lighting. He addressed public safety concerns, environmental issues, and corporate social responsibility. His oversight work contributed to the recovery of over ₦300 million in mismanaged public funds and supported the creation of 35 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Oyo State.

Beyond legislation, Hon. Badmos has implemented significant grassroots programs. He has empowered residents through cash grants ranging from ₦10,000 to ₦250,000, provided vocational tools, and supported small and medium-scale businesses. In education, he has sponsored WAEC and JAMB forms, bursaries, and tuition fees for students.

Infrastructure projects under his supervision include water projects, boreholes, culverts, maternity centres, community halls, road construction, and solar street lighting.

He has also supported religious organizations across the constituency, including mosques and churches, while providing consistent assistance to youth groups, widows, and professional associations. These initiatives have strengthened local communities and improved the quality of life for residents.

Hon. Badmos’ leadership demonstrates a focus on transformational development, bridging the gap between policy and tangible outcomes. Constituents recognize him as a leader who combines legislative experience with practical solutions to community needs.

Political analysts note that if he contests for the House of Representatives in 2027, Hon. Badmos would likely prioritize infrastructure development, youth empowerment, education, healthcare, agriculture, and job creation. His approach emphasizes accountability, transparency, and direct engagement with communities.

His track record shows consistent results at the state level, including legislative reforms, community infrastructure, empowerment programs, and social welfare initiatives. Constituents view his potential candidacy as an opportunity to bring experienced, results-driven leadership to the federal level.

Although he has not formally announced his intention to run, his influence and community support suggest that his entry into the race would be significant. His leadership style emphasizes inclusivity, ensuring representation for all segments of Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency.

In summary, Hon. Bolaji Saheed Badmos is seen as a transformational leader whose experience, vision, and commitment to results make him a strong potential representative for Akinyele/Lagelu. His record demonstrates the ability to deliver meaningful change, from infrastructure and education to empowerment and social development.

His candidacy would offer constituents the chance for effective representation and a focus on development-driven governance at the national level.
