The Executive Chairman of Ibarapa North Local Government, Hon Lateef Adebare Lawal (Akorede), has advised residents of the local government area to take preventive measures against the cholera pandemic, which is currently spreading across the state.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Head of Information Unit, Ibarapa North Local Government, Onifade R Olukemi, on Tuesday.
Speaking to the people of Ibarapa North, Akorede emphasized the contagious nature of cholera and how it can be contracted through contact with infected persons, contaminated food and water, and unsanitary environments.
He urged residents to be cautious and take necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the disease.
The local government boss praised the measures put in place by Governor Seyi Makinde to prevent and tackle the pandemic, which include the establishment of maternity centers and the deployment of competent health officials to all local governments and LCDAs.
Akorede encouraged residents to visit the maternity centers and meet with the health officials to learn about the measures and adhere strictly to them, in order to prevent the outbreak from entering their locality.
The call comes as the state grapples with the cholera pandemic, which has claimed several lives in recent weeks.
Residents of Ibarapa North are advised to take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and their households from the disease.
