The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has honored Engineer Muftau Open Salawu, Chairman of the Oyo State Project Performance Monitoring Agency, with the prestigious Champion of Ibadan Development Award.
The award was presented to Open Salawu by Chief Bayo Oyero, Aare Mayegun of Ibadanland, in recognition of his contributions to the development of Ibadan.
In his remarks, Open Salawu expressed gratitude to the CCII leadership and members for the honor and praised Governor Seyi Makinde’s efforts in upgrading Ibadan’s infrastructure.
His words: “I extend heartfelt gratitude to the leadership and members of CCII, led by President General Bar. Chief Sulaimon Ajewole, for the honor bestowed upon me as Champion of Ibadan Development. Special thanks to Chief Bayo Oyero, Aare Mayegun of Ibadanland, for presenting the award.”
He highlighted the governor’s commitment to driving project delivery, citing examples such as the Circular Road and Ladoke Akintola Airport projects, as well as over 100km of township road resurfacing.
He said: “Ibadan is undergoing a remarkable transformation, with major infrastructure projects like the Circular Road and Ladoke Akintola Airport, alongside over 100km of township road resurfacing. The surge in real estate development further underscores Ibadan’s growth, marking this period as one of its most prosperous times.
“Ladoke Akintola Airport: The project is designed to transform the airport into a modern, world-class facility, enhancing travel experiences, boosting economic growth, attracting investments, and empowering the people of Oyo State.
“Circular road: The 110 km Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road which is designed to encircle the entirety of Ibadan will strategically link the Ibadan-Ife Expressway, the Moniya Train Station, Ibadan Inland Dry Port, the proposed Oluyole Free Trade Zone and different parts of the Ibadan Metropolis. The Circular Road will also ease the flow of traffic in strategic locations in the metropolis as well as drive more development in Oyo State.
“Additionally, numerous projects are underway in the education and healthcare sectors, further solidifying Ibadan’s growth trajectory.”
Open Salawu, the Giwa Adinni of Oyo state assured that all zones in Oyo State would receive their fair share of infrastructure development under Governor Makinde’s administration.
He also commended the governor’s relentless efforts in promoting economic growth and development in the state.
“Governor Seyi Makinde is relentless in driving project delivery. I assure all zones in Oyo State that they will receive their fair share of infrastructure development” he added.
The CCII is an umbrella body for all socio-cultural societies and clubs of Ibadan extraction, with the objective of promoting economic, social, educational, and cultural interests of Ibadanland.
