Ahead of the 2019 general election, the Senatorial candidate for Oyo North Senatorial District for the National Assembly (NASS), under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), BARRISTER BAYO LAWAL, has uncovered his political ambition. I believe the Legislature is the Bedrock of Democracy and provides an untapped opportunity to make a positive difference through people-centric legislation and effective oversight of the Executive arm of government which will engender the rule of law, prosperity, equity, justice, progress, peace and true national unity.
My fellow constituents in Oyo North Senatorial District! Fate has brought us to another crucial threshold in the history of the Oyo-North Senatorial District! We have been at this crossroads several times before. The consequences of the choices that we made in the past are obvious for us to see today. Democracy is acclaimed the best form of governance because it places in the hands of the people, the power to choose who governs them. But posterity beckons on us to exercise that enormous power with maximum discretion, bearing in mind that we can either be liberated, or further enslaved by our choices.
The act of effectiveness in legislation requires more than enough as some characteristics need to be met and qualified both moral and knowledge should be presented because of the current day government and this will greatly assist us in making rationale decisions which will cater for the total welfare of the masses particularly the Oyo North Senatorial District. Since 1999 up till this moment, we have produces different categories of lawmakers who ranged from different fields and professions, active and docile honourables, responsible and nuisance and some with business as usual. This is the fright time to fight for our own interests and rescue our great people from this avoidable suffering confronting our region, graduates are unemployed, traders are short of assistance, poor welfare services such as road, electricity, water, hospital, schools and the likes and drastic actions should be taken to that effect.
Most people worry about people they perceive as “good” going into politics because of the lure of money. And, indeed, many have fallen and joined the plunderers of our nation. Truth be told, we have many genuine Nigerians who are not just a patriotic Nigerian in selfless services but also in providing solutions to all problems visible to be combated. I present to you a God-fearing man whose contributions and achievements always speaks for him everytime, every moments and everywhere because of his outstanding personality and efficacious morality. This is a man whose roles in the Oke-Ogun Development Consultative Forum as a member who also doubles as Secretary of the Board of Trustees cannot be ignored and prior to this, he held position of secretary to Council of Oke-Ogun Indegnes and also a prominent member of Oke-Ogun Progressive Movement (OPM).
The Former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Oyo State (1999-2003) under the administration of Alhaji Lamidi Onaolapo Adeshina as the Executive Governor of the state is a professional achiever who has showcase his legal skills and practices in all ramifications in benefiting the masses especially those with challenges. When he served as the Attorney General of the state, he facilitated the establishment and placement of the STATE HIGH COURT TO ISEYIN, KISHI and a branch at OGBOMOSO. These court of law has able to fight for the helpless Nigerians, hopeless individuals and also reduces the criminal behaviours and other social injustice of any kinds to a bearer minimum.
A graduate from the outstanding and prestigious University of Ibadan who studied Law and Jurisprudence and later confirmed as Barrister of the Supreme Court of NIGERIA is an Astute Scholar, Freedom Fighter, Political and Social Activist, Renowned Administrator, Experienced Public Servant and a lover of the masses.
As a matter of priority, If given the chance to the RED CHAMBER of the National Assembly to served, he will sponsor bills in the Senate for the reform of our educational system to ensure that Nigerian children are given free and qualitative education up to the tertiary, look to the establishment of Federal University of Agriculture, Oke-Ogun due to our good soil and professions, propose solutions to the unstable power supply (electricity), rehabilitation and construction of our roads, provision of good drinkable water, hospital, schools and also facilitates the procurement of small scale enterprises grant to the market men and women, among others.
Due to his pivotal community, social and religious contributions to humanity he is a recipient of many awards, titles and honour both locally and internationally.
