The Oyo North Senatorial Candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in the last general elections, Barrister Bayo Lawal has disassociated himself from the withdrawal of the gubernatorial candidate of the party, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin from the coalition agreement that produced Governor Seyi Makinde.

Recall that insideoyo.com had earlier reported that Lanlehin alleged that Governor Seyi Makinde is not complying with the agreement terms and announced his withdrawal from the coalition agreement.

The Former Attorney General while describing the withdrawal as “shocking and unexpected” stated that Lanlehin did not consult the leaders of the party in Oyo state before making the decision.

PRESS RELEASE

1. The news about the withdrawal of Senator Olufemi Lanlehin is sudden, shocking and unexpected.

2. Senator Olufemi Lanlehin did not consult with the leadership of the African Democratic Congress, ADC in Oyo state before making the announcement.

3. It should be recalled that the coalition that birthed Governor Seyi Makinde as the Governor of Oyo state was formed a week to the governorship election.

4. Two weeks ago, a meeting was held at Chief Koleoso’s house; a respected, upright and practical man of integrity. In attendance were leaders of ADC, PA Ayo Adebanjo and Governor Seyi Makinde. It was resolved that we would all cooperate with the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde in the interest of good governance and enhancement of good people of Oyo state from abject poverty, embracement of infrastructural development, rehabilitation of health and education facilities which crave for urgent attention, development of Agriculture etc etc. Therefore the new administration needs cooperation and support, not only from coalition political leaders, but also all indigenes of Oyo state, not withstanding agreement.

5. At the meeting held about two days ago, in one of the leaders’ house in Ibadan, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin briefed the stakeholders on the number of offices given to ADC and a resolution passed on sharing based on the tendencies in ADC. It was further agreed that ADC would forge a strong alliance with the new administration to deliver on its avowed manifestoes.

6. I, Barrister Bayo Lawal and my teeming supporters across Oyo state in general and Oyo North Senatorial district in particular disassociate from the unilateral decision of Senator Olufemi Lanlehin to opt out of our coalition agreement

7. We also declare our support for the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration in the state to deliver his manifestoes for the good people of Oyo state.

8. While I urge good people of Oyo state to continue to support Engineer Seyi Makinde, I also want to urge politicians and political leaders not to distract this government in discharging it duties.

Signed.
