Following the successful conduct of its mid-term congress last weekend, the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo State has commended Governor Abiola Ajimobi and other stakeholders “for their heroic contributions to the party’s constitutional exercise which was adjudged hitch-free across the 33 local government councils with 100 per cent of desired results achieved.”
In a statement issued on Monday by its Public Relations Officer, Olawale Sadare, the governing Party described the process and outcome of the non-elective congress on Saturday as another eloquent testimony to the commitment of the APC to the full entrenchment of right values through the promotion of internal democracy and encouragement of citizen participation in the nation’s democratic space to drive good governance and sustain the change mantra.
“In Oyo APC, we are basking in the euphoria of the huge success recorded in the last Saturday delegates congress for obvious reasons; people of the state would not forget in a hurry how similar exercise embarked upon in the past by the party in power used to be an avenue to throw the whole society into palpable tension. As against the use of cutlasses and other dangerous weapons that was the characteristics of the PDP while in power, our party went about the whole exercise in an atmosphere devoid of violence, threat and disturbance of public peace. This is not only historic but also worthy of commendation by the public.
“Moreover, the perfect conduct of the popular congress has again set the record straight by distinguishing the APC from some vulnerable amalgams with questionable democratic pedigree operating in the political firmament of the Pacesetter State. The APC has, by this feat, established that only a party with widespread presence in the state is good enough to continue in office and not any one-man party or corrupt one which lacks all the essential of party politics.
“Meanwhile, we commend the Executive Governor of the state who doubles as the leader of the APC in Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi for the positive roles he played in the successful conduct of the congress. We also appreciate the National Headquarters of our great party which sent a five congress Committee led by Hon. Sani Dahiru El-Katazu for believing in the capability of the Chief Akin Oke-led State Executive Committee to come up with good results as usual.
“More importantly, the success recorded in the exercise would have been made possible without the cooperation, commitment and understanding demonstrated by all the stakeholders particularly; executive members at all levels, past and serving political office holders, party members and supporters as well as relevant officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, security agencies and the press.” The statement added.
