Arrangement has been concluded by the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 9 local government areas of Oyo South senatorial district to endorse Governor Abiola Ajimobi as its candidate for the 2019 senatorial election.
According to sources who confided in InsideOyo.com, the event will take place at a meeting hurriedly planned few days ago and slated for Ibadan today.
The endorsement is coming 22 months to the completion of Ajimobi’s tenure as governor of the pace-setter state.
Ajimobi, who represented the district between 2003 and 2007 before he sought to contest the 2007 governorship election, had denied interest in the position at many fora.
In a report by www.vanguardngr.com, Ajimobi had been quoted as saying: “I won’t contest any election again. I’m praying to God to let us end this tenure successfully. With what, we have experienced so far, I am okay. I am not interested in vying for any election again. Is it vice President, Senator or Minister – not any more. The race we have been running for some years up til now that I’m almost 70, what else do i want?”
