Oluwadamilare Ojo, an indigene of Oyo and 500-level medical student in the University of Ibadan, in this intriguing poem writes on the emergence of Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, as Speaker, Oyo state House of Assembly.
The poem below:
Mr. Speaker,
Here’s an unprecedented opportunity of divine grace
For youth to show our dexterity of setting pace.
You’re now not only a lawmaker,
But also a renowned Speaker.
You’d been chosen from the rest;
Nothing is expected but the best.
Mr. Speaker,
Be wary of sycophantic admirers;
No mission but to get their heart desires.
Be wary of whom you get advice from;
It’s (y)our tenure nobody deserves all.
Don’t be weary of listening to others,
But be wary of the steps you take after.
Mr. Speaker,
We believe you’d bear the good fruit,
That is expected from a good youth.
We believe you’d set the record straight,
That’d make the history great.
We believe you’d not disappoint your father;
That everyone’d be proud of you rather.
Mr. Speaker,
In the house, you’re the youngest.
By God’s grace, you’d do the greatest.
In the state, you’ve become a role model;
By God’s grace, you’d not miss the Eden.
In Nigeria, all eyes are on you.
By God’s grace, you’d make a breakthrough.
Mr. Speaker…
Yours,
Oluadamilare O. Ojo,
“Dr.O3Dee,” a doctor with a condition,
Medical Student, University of Ibadan.
