Former Oyo State Governor and governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adebayo Alao-Akala has revealed various factors that will shape 2019 elections in the state.
Akala in an interview with Tribune, also spoke on the recent controversial congress of the party, the agitation for power shift by the people of Oke-Ogun, and the chances of the party in next year’s general elections.
He listed the following as factors will shape the gubernatorial race next year:
1. People will vote for personality not political party.
2. Candidates that meet constitutional requirements.
3. Acceptable candidate to the electorate across the state.
4. Candidate must present him or herself well.
5. They will like to vote for somebody that they know, not somebody that will be introduced to them by somebody else.
The former governor said he believed that the APC will not like gamble during the election.
“It is about personality, not about party. The election in 2019 is crucial. You have to present your self well. You have to have a good personality and be acceptable to the people.”
On the agitation of Oke Ogun, the Ogbomoso born politician said there will be no zoning,
“I don’t think there will be any zoning. Somebody who is also aspiring to be governor of Oyo State said in an interview in your paper that there is no zoning. So, there will be no zoning. We just want a good man to lead Oyo State. That’s all.“
