The member representing Ibadan South East/North East Federal Constituency and the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Air Force at the House of Representatives, Hon. Abass Adigun also known as Agboworin, has revealed what motivated him to end his career in the United States (US) Navy to join politics in Nigeria.
Adigun, who was elected under the platform of the People Democratic Party, PDP, told reporters in Ibadan on Sunday, that he shunned the bright naval career because of the experience he gathered in many countries of the world where during his service.
The lawmaker explained that serving in Asia, Europe and other parts of the world made him see the great feats which many third world countries have attained through self development efforts.
“My experience made me to take the decision to come back home and contribute meaningfully to democracy and the development of Nigeria.” he said.
He added that it dawned on him that many people and companies from Western nations have been moving to these countries as they improve standard of living of their citizens and strengthen democracy.

The lawmaker revealed that within his short period at the House, he has moved a motion to improve the welfare of the officers and men of the military and paramilitary agencies. He emphasized that the security personnel need enough welfare to boost their morale and patriotism while confronting insurgents and other criminals in the society.
Adigun also commended Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila for having listening ears, saying the attribute will help the House under his leadership ventilate robust discussions at plenaries which will result in sound laws that will support the development efforts of the Federal Government.
