The campaign team of Prince Diran Odeyemi, an aspirant for the position of the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has stated that it has in stock series of media campaign that will get Nigerians behind the party ahead of 2019 general election.
Prince Odeyemi, a graduate of the Premier University, University of Ibadan, served as Osun and Oyo State correspondent of The Vanguard Newspapers for several years.
He was later appointed Special Adviser on Communication & Strategy/Special Duties to former Oyo state governor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala and later as Director of Publicity Media & Strategy for Osun state chapter of the PDP, the position he held during the 2014 gubernatorial election of Sen Iyiola Omisore and came out with unbowed head.
Unveiling the team in Osogbo, the leader of Odeyemi Campaign, Mr. Akin Adeyi, explained that PDP needs a competent, ‘war-tested’ media handler with the good temperament to cope with the propaganda of the ruling party and with the strength for prolonged media war APC will wage against a rejuvenated PDP which is in hot demand by majority of Nigerians.
“Adeyi commended the wisdom of the zoning committee and the party leadership as he declared ” Probably Diran Odeyemi is their target for the position hence the decision to zone this important position to Osun state and at this crucial time that the party needs more experienced and professional media/publicity handler.
“Whoever will be in charge of media relations for the PDP this time around must have good knowledge of the workings of Nigeria media, good history of PDP’s huge achievements in the 16 years it held power at the center and must have good approach to deflate lies-filled balloon of ” imaginary achievements” of APC administration.
“For us in Osun PDP, Diran Odeyemi is very useful and will be sorely missed when politics that will eventually see to the end of APC reign come 2018 in Osun reaches high tempo, but owing to our conviction that Nigeria should not be allowed to remain any longer in the hands of tentative leaders with no serious approach to ending myriads of problems it created, we are offering him for the service our party at the national level.
“The entire country can bear witness to Odeyemi’s ability to manage media and state accurate accounts without resorting to name calling. He did it for PDP in 2014 and the result of that excellent outing remains a good measure of decent media/party relationship. He is fearless, uncompromising, decent and mature.
“We believe our PDP has a lot to gain giving Odeyemi such a huge task”, Adeyi concluded.
The team, according to Adeyi, has already contacted other state chapters and major power brokers in PDP and expressed optimism and with the feedback at the disposal of the team, Odeyemi can henceforth be referred to as PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary designate.
