Following the approval and confirmation of High Chief Lekan Balogun as the new Olubadan of Ibadanland by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, the Founder of Hassan Olawale Giwa (HOG) Foundation, Arc (Dr.) Hassan Giwa has sent his congratulatory message to the designated monarch.
Giwa, in a statement on Wednesday, described the Olubadan designate as an embodiment of knowledge, who his wealth of experience will bring meaningful development to Ibadan and Oyo State during his reign.
According to the philanthropist, “High Chief Lekan Balogun is a scholar, businessman and a politician, not only a politician but a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he has travelled far and wide and garnered experiences enough to bring peace and development to Ibadan and Oyo State as a whole.
“High Chief Lekan Balogun has paid his due by climbing the Ibadan chieftaincy ladder for the record of 36 years when he became the Mogaji of Aliiwo dynasty,” he said.
Hassan Giwa, who is also a son of Aliiwo dynasty, said the confirmation of High Chief Lekan Balogun by the Olubadan-in-Council and approval by the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has once again proved the uniqueness of Ibadan tradition and rotational chieftaincy system.
“I want to congratulate my father and the Olubadan of Ibadan designate, High Chief (Senator) Lekan Balogun, on his confirmation as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland. I pray that Almighty God in His infinite mercy gives you the required knowledge, wisdom, good health and longevity to serve the good people of Ibadan for many years on the throne of your forefathers” Giwa prayed.
It will be recalled that Governor Seyi Makinde, had on Monday, announced the confirmation of High Chief Balogun as the new Olubadan of Ibadanland, this, followed the recommendation by the Olubadan-in-Council and approval of the state governor.
