As the race to the Agodi house set in, politics in Ibadan is coming at a bitter price with expensive political billboards and banners messed up with oil.
Insideoyo.com walked round Mokola via Dugbe down to Challenge, the majority of the billboards were painted with something similar to oil to wash away the face of contestants. Some of the contestants’ billboards that were destroyed include that of Barrister Adebayo Shittu and Olalekan Alli, both vying to run on the platform of the All Progressive Congress.
When insideoyo.com asked an Okada rider around Dugbe axis, he said, the defacing was caused by some thugs who are campaigning for other candidates. “I don’t know if they are APC or PDP but I saw some of them a few days ago…splashing the oily water on the face of contestants.”
But the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, in a statement on Tuesday alleged that the opposition had hired some individuals to destroy billboards mounted by many of the party’s aspirants in the state, calling on security agencies to fish out those behind the attack.
