Sigma Club, University of lbadan, is set to play host to the presence of His Royal Highness Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II -The Emir of Kano.

The event which will hold on October 6 at the John Paul 2 Centre, Univeristy of Ibadan, is expected to play host to an array of high-profile personalities such as governors, senators, royal fathers, CEOs, academia, among others.

SIGMA CLUB, UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN, TO HONOUR EMIR OF KANO.
Sigma Club, University of Ibadan, the oldest surviving student’s organisation in sub-Saharan Africa is set to play host to the majestic presence of His Royal Highness, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II – Emir of Kano.
Sigma Club, found in 1950, is a social and philanthropic student organisation with considerable focus on good character, discipline, integrity and virtues geared towards national development.
The Sigma Guest Luncheon is an event where men of good character, discipline and high integrity, who have risen to eminence and prominence in the society, are inducted into the highly revered Sigma Roll of Honour as “HONORARY SIGMITES”.
The tradition is rooted in the belief that these Honorary Sigmites, had they gotten the chance, would have been Loyal Sigmites. It is also believed that they would be fountains of inspiration to Loyal Sigmites (male undergraduates of tge University of Ibadan who are current members).
The 2018 Sigma Guest Luncheon is scheduled to hold on Saturday, 6th October, 2018 by 1:00PM at the Pope John Paul II Centre, University of Ibadan as part of activities to mark the 68th anniversary of the club.
The event will offer the Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, HRH, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II, the opportunity to step into the seat vacate by his predecessor, HRH (Late) Alhaji Ado Bayero, CFR, who was inducted into the Sigma Roll of Honour in 1977 as the twelfth (12th) Honorary Sigmite.
Sigma Club has since 1965 inducted forty-eight (48) highly revered personalities into the Sigma Roll of Honour. Among them are: Dr. Michael Omolayole, HLR, OFR – (Chairman, Omolayole and Associates); Otunba Subomi Balogun, CON (Founder, FCMB Group); Late Dr. Taslim Elias, OC, GCON (Former President of the World Court and Chief Justice of Nigeria); Late Dr. Alex Ekwueme, GCON (Former Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria); Dr. Christopher Kolade, CON (Nigeria’s former High Commissioner to the United Kingdom); Professor Isaac Adewole (Minister of Health, Federal Republic of Nigeria); Chief Afe Babalola, SAN, CON (Founder, Afe Babalola University); Chief Felix Ohiwerei, OFR (Former Chairman, Nigerian Breweries); Emeritus Professor Ayo Banjo (Former Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan), Professor Ibidapo-Obe Oyewusi, FAS (Former Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos); Professor Gabriel Ogunmola, FAS (Chancellor, Lead CityUniversity).
