A group in the Oyo State chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), New Oyo State Vanguard, has cautioned the communications minister, Barrister Adebayo Shittu against making statement that could generate controversy.
Reacting to Shittu’s criticism of last week’s inauguration of elders’ advisory council by Governor Abiola Ajimobi, the group spokesman, Mr. Dauda Kolawole, described it as very unfortunate and morally faulty.
According to him, “all party members either consciously or unconsciously expect party restructuring at all levels to reposition the party for future elections. If a process is kick-started for the inevitable, must we not encourage and support such move irrespective of our personal ambition? Kolawole queried.
He observed that organization or political party formation and control all over the world is definitely a magnificent task that demands power, perception and right knowledge on the part of the leaders. “It is the responsibility of the leaders to live up to the expectations”.
“The last week’s inauguration of elders’ advisory council by the governor who is the leader of the party in the state was one of the ways of doing the inevitable. We must all therefore support the move as loyal members APC in Oyo State.” He added.
The statement admonished the minister, as a leader in the party, not to allow his ambition to override the interest of the party and the majority of our people by approaching issues technologically. “We are in the new age of communications and brotherhood. We must change our ways of doing things to agree with the party slogan, change”.
The group expressed its full support for the ongoing party restructuring, calling on all party members and the people in general to remain focus, loyal and support the APC administration at all levels for unprecedented development program for the benefit of all.
