I was cut off from social media by virtue of my Qartar Airways flight from Houston, United States of America to Doha, Qatar from 6.15 pm on Thursday, the 23rd November to Friday , the 24th November, 2017. It was a 16hour non-stop flight and I didn’t roam my mobile network data for the trip.
On arrival at the 5 star Hamad International Airport at Doha, my cell phone was inundated and bombarded with the belated breaking news of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s resignation from the All Progressives Congress. The Waziri’s exit is long overdue, but it better late than never.
I salute the courage of Waziri of Adamawa from jumping out of a ship that has since been lost in the turbulent sea and probably might not be able to ever find its way to the electoral harbour in 2019.
Let me state from the onset that I am not a fan of Atiku, but I stand with him on this great move. There must not be pretence in politics. Anywhere in the world, politics is about recognition, involvement , participation and patronage. In Politics, you put your mouth where your money is.
Most loyal party members who toiled day and night for APC to come into power in 2015 has nothing to show for it today in terms of political appointments. Instead, most PDP members who worked against in APC during the 2015 general election are calling shots in PMB government today. The situation is the same in all the states of the federation.
In my state of Oyo for instance where the State contributed the highest number of votes to the election of PMB in the entire South of the nation, the loyal party members in the State were treated with scorn and ridicule. Please do not get me wrong as I never submitted my resume for any appointment under PMB as I don’t even intend to seek for any.
However, truth be told the President and his political handlers are ingrates and ungodly if we must call a spade.
I wish the Waziri Adamawa, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, GCON the guidance of Allah in his next political step. He is my hero on this and I stand with him.
