This November,  social workers across Nigeria still storm Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state for the 35th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and National Conference of the Nigeria Association of Social Workers (NASoW).

 

National Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the association, Musliudeen Adebayo made this known in a statement made available to InsideOyo.com on Sunday in Ibadan.

Adebayo added that expected participants at the conference which has its theme as “Social Work Regulatory Framework: A Pathway to Promoting Effective Relationships“, include Social Workers, academias, policy makers, international and local civil society organizations, development partners and students.

Adebayo who doubles as Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the conference said, “Distinguished Social Workers other fellow Nigerians, I bring you another message of hope. This is to inform you that the NASoW AGM and National Conference has been scheduled to take place between 19th and 22nd of November this year in Ibadan. Venue of the AGM/ Conference is House of Chiefs, Secretariat Ibadan.

 

The conference itineraries are:

 

  • Arrival date: Tuesday, 19th, November, 2019.
  • Opening ceremony: Wednesday, 20th November 2019.
  • Annual General Meeting: Thursday 21st November.
  • Departure: Friday, 22nd of November, 2019.

 

“The 35th AGM/ National conference will be hosted by the Oyo State Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Social Workers. The choice of Oyo state to host the AGM is in recognition of the contributions of the Oyo state chapter towards the development of the association and in line with the agenda of the state Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde to improve the standard of living of the people of the state.

 

“It is interesting to note that NASoW was established in Ibadan, Oyo state in 1975. Oyo is the home of Social Work profession. This is a home coming for all Social Workers in Nigeria.This is not the first time that Oyo state chapter will host the AGM. Oyo state hosted the AGM in 2004.

 

“Participants at this conference are drawn from diverse settings, which include academics, policy makers, international and local civil society organizations, development partners and students. The conference will afford Social Workers within and outside the country the opportunity to interact, share ideas and knowledge.

 

“On behalf of NASoW President, Alhaji Mashood Mustapha, members of the National Executive of NASoW, Local Organising Committee, and thousands of Social Workers across Nigeria, I wish to welcome all Social Workers to the root of their profession in anticipation, ” part of the statement reads.
