Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District, Senator Kola Balogun has commended the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde for placing priority on people’s welfare, most especially the workers in the state by paying their salaries on the 25th of every month.
He said the governor has raised the bar of Governance in the state by surpassing the past administration within hundred days in office through his monumental achievements such as payment of hundred percent gratuities to pensioners; cancellation of #3000 Naira fees by students; provision of free exercise books; textbooks for students in public schools; increment in car and housing loans of workers in the state; bursary awards for indigenes of the state in Nigerian Law School; rehabilitation of many schools and hospitals and lightening of Ibadan and many others.
The Senator, who stated this at the 5th annual edition of Aliwo Day ceremony and merit recognition, held at the Aliwo Compound Agodi Ibadan, added that Governor Makinde has improved the governance in the state compared to past administration where salary arears of workers were owed.
According to the lawmaker: “Governor Seyi Makinde led administration is fantastic. It’s first of its kind in the history of Oyo state. We now have an administration that is paying workers as and when due compared to past administration that complained about lack of funds. Makinde is a forward looking administrator.
“I am very happy and know by his agenda that he will further pay more attention to health, education, security, empowerment of women and youths, develop local economy so that we can have more money in circulation in the State.”
He therefore used the medium to explain all efforts he has made to bring dividends of democracy to the people of his constituency.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of Aliwo Progressive Movement, Mr.Sadiq Bello said the purpose of the Aliwo day was to bring all sons and daughters of the ancient Aliwo, both home and in diaspora, together with the motive of promoting the legacy of the their forefathers and assisting the less privileged within the family.
He stated further that part of the achievements in the last five years was award of scholarship to indigents students within the family, provision of soft loans for widows and organizing youths and women empowerment programme among many other achievements.
However, motivational awards were later presented to sons and daughters who have distinguished themselves in their chosen professions,
