2027 governorship hopeful, Olaoluwa Peter Abidemi popularly called OPA has been commended for his efforts in the development of sports at the grassroots.
The Secretary, Peter Olaoluwa Foundation (POF), Rev. Joseph Dopamu made the commendation on Saturday during the finals of the maiden edition of Olaoluwa Football Tournament held at the Rehabilitation Centre, Moniya, Ibadan.
Dopamu who witnessed the final games between Rehoboth FC and IFC said it is important for well meaning individuals and organisations to support grassroot football development just like Olaoluwa Peter Abidemi.
He said the APC governorship hopeful has continued to encourage and sponsor the growth of football and other sports not only in Akinyele but across the state.
He said the Chartered Accountants turned politician might organised similar competions across the state.
He thanked the participating players, coaches and officials for their tremendous support and sacrifices to the competition.
He noted that development of raw talents at the grassroot across the state motivated the competition.
He said competition like this will keep the youths busy and reduce crimes in the society.
Rehoboth FC which defeated IFC 3-2, got a cash prize, with winners at each category also rewarded.
