The Deputy Governor of Oyo state, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan has, on Tuesday, resumed his new office at the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Agodi, Ibadan, insideoyo.com reports.
This is coming following the approval of the relocation of his office from the governor’s office, at the secretariat by Governor Seyi Makinde.
The Deputy Governor, Olaniyan had recently dumped the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Also, the House of Assembly last week wrote a notice of allegations to the Deputy Governor alleging of 5 different allegations.
The notice was signed by 23 members of the house. He is expected to respond to the allegations within a week.
The petition entitled “Petition And Notice of Allegations of the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Engineer Rauf Olaniyan” reads in parts.
“Consequent upon listed below, we the under listed elected Honourable members of the 9th assembly hereby allege the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Eng. Rauf Olaniyan with the following allegations:
“Gross misconduct, Abuse of office, Financial recklessness, Abandonment of office, official duty, insubordination and other offences.
“This is in accordance to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended in 2011. Section 188.”
Recall that insideoyo.com had earlier reported that the relocation notice was contained in a letter issued and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun.
The two paragraph letter with reference number SP/S326/T/71 was dated June 17th.
The letter puts to rest insinuation as to who was behind an earlier signpost which was erected at the Ministry of Environment indicating the relocation of the Office of the Deputy Governor.
The development had confirmed the widening rift between the Governor and his Deputy.
The letter entitled “Relocation of the Office of the Deputy Governor of Oyo State to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources” addressed to Olaniyan, reads in part “I have the directive to inform Your Excellency that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde (FNSE) has approved the relocation of the Office of the Deputy Governor to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Secretariat, Ibadan.
“I thank Your Excellency.”
For almost three months, Olaniyan has been using his private office owing to the midnight rainfall that blew off his office roof and got part of the office damaged.
But sources hinted that most reconstruction job of the office had been completed, safe for the finishing and awaiting the arrival of office furniture, as the ones there were completely damaged by the heavy midnight rain.
