It was a sad beginning for traders at the popular Akande Market, Ogbomoso as no fewer than 30 shops with goods worth hundreds of million of naira was on last night evening razed by fire.
According to National Insight, the traders lost virtually everything in all the shops to the inferno which started around 7 pm.
One of the victims told journalists that men of the state fire service were not on ground to quell the fire as they allegedly said they didn’t have fuel in their fire-fighting truck.
He said that “immediately the incident started, calls were put through to them but there was no positive response. If they had come earlier, the damages wouldn’t have been this much because the fire wouldn’t spread to where it got to but you know its harmattan , everything is dry.”
The cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained as at the time of fling this report but several sympathizers are still at the scene lamenting and pleading with government to assist the traders.
