Four months after they were elevated and installed as kings, Ibadan High Chiefs yesterday visited the Popoyemoja Palace of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji.
They were on a condolence visit to the monarch over the death of his senior Queen, Alhaja Kudirat Adetunji, who died last Thursday at the age of 71.
Their visit came 24 hours after Governor Abiola Ajimobi visited the monarch to sympathise with him.
Insideoyo.com recall that since August 27, 2017 when they were installed at an event that held at the historic Mapo Hall, Ibadan, the new Obas have not met the monarch, an action that has generated arguments. They have been engaged in verbal wars. Only recently, the new Obas gave ultimatum to the monarch.
Sources informed insideoyo.com that the new Obas, who arrived at some minutes after 1pm were ushered into the palace by workers.
After exchanging courtesies with the monarch, they were said to have condoled Oba Adetunji, adding that he is the paramount ruler of Ibadanland.
Praying that his reign would witness more development, the new Obas who were led by Oba Lekan Balogun and Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, said they were not in any supremacy battle with the monarch, as they were below him in ranking.
Oba Amidu Ajibade, who spoke on behalf othe Obas, was quoted as saying that they hold the stool in high esteem.
Reacting, the monarch who spoke through his spokesperson, Mr. Adeola Oloko, thanked the ‘High Chiefs’ for the visit, praying the visit to be the beginning of everlasting peace.
Other Obas who visited the palace were Oba Eddy Oyewole, Oba Lateef Adebimpe, Oba Biodun Daisi and Oba Kola Adegbola.
