The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Irepo, Oorelope and Olorunsogo Local Government Areas has declared its total and absolute loyalty to Governor Seyi Makinde over the PDP’s recent alliance with the Allied People’s Movement (APM).
Chairmen of the PDP in the three councils, Mr Kazeem Olawoyin; Alhaji Safariyu Oyelowo and Mr Paul Adeyemo stated on Sunday that all members of the party in the three local governments have accepted the PDP-APM alliance and will work hard to deliver massive votes to candidates produced by that alliance in 2027.
The chairmen noted that the claim by a former chairman of Irepo Local Government that the PDP held its primary in the constituency and that he emerged as its House of Representatives Candidate was unfounded and laughable.
Similarly, the SA to Governor Makinde on Irepo/Olorunsogo/Oorelope Federal Constituency, Alhaji Yusuff Sarafadeen Alani Alwajud, also denounced a video of Santana in which he claimed that a purported primary election was held in Oorelope LG to elect the candidate of the PDP for Irepo/Olorunsogo/Oorelope Federal Constituency.
Alwajud, who spoke with newsmen on Sunday, said the PDP in Oorelope Local Government remains solidly behind Governor Seyi Makinde and that no primary was held in Oorelope LG, despite it being the collation centre for the Federal Constituency.
Alwajud declared that the PDP in Oorelope LG will work with the APM and all its candidates in the 2027 general election.
According to Alwajud, findings showed that there were no activities at the collation centres in each council and also at the L.A. Primary School, Igboho, which is the designated collation centre for the Federal Constituency, an indication that Santana’s kangaroo primary was just a media creation.
According to the chairmen, Okunrinjeje Abiodun Oni already has the support of the PDP in Irepo/Olorunsogo/Oorelope Federal Constituency ahead of the conclusion of the internal democratic exercise to select a House of Representatives flagbearer in the APM and that once the process is concluded, all members of the party will support Oni and all other candidates in the general elections.
They maintained that any claim about PDP organising a primary where Santana emerged as flagbearer of the party is outright falsehood and a joke taken too far, calling on members of the public to ignore such joke.
The chairmen said: “In what would appear as the joke of the month, we saw a video showing Alhaji Santana claiming that PDP held its primary in Irepo Local Government and he was going to other local governments to organise same.
“We would like to put it on record that the kangaroo primary allegedly held in Kisi was a huge joke and it should be laughed at and ignored by the general public.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the leaders and members of the of the PDP in Irepo/Olorunsogo/Oorelope Federal Constituency are behind Governor Makinde and we believe in the grand alliance between the PDP and the APM, because it is the only credible and people-oriented alternative that can reset Nigeria.
“With that alliance and with Governor Makinde as the presidential candidate, we believe that Nigeria will be truly reset and Nigerians will be set free from the oppressive APC government.
“So, Governor Makinde has our support and loyalty and so do all candidates that will emerge through the PDP-APM alliance and we have all resolved to work hard to ensure they win massively in the coming polls.”
