Oyo state government has said that it will take the Covid-19 test to other zones in the state as from next week, insideoyo.com reports.
Seyi Makinde, the governor of the state made this known on Wednesday via his verified twitter account.
Insideoyo.com recalls that Oyo state is made up of 5 zones namely Ibadan, Ibarapa, Oke Ogun, Ogbomoso and Oyo.
The Covid-19 tests conducted in the state so far have been carried out in Ibadan, the state capital, neglecting other zones, an action many people have criticized.
Makinde also stated that the details of the schedule of the Covid-19 tests in other zones will be provided in due course.
He said “Also, in a bid to continue ramping up testing, from next week, we will be moving to other zones in the state to conduct tests. Details of the schedule will be provided in due course.”
Makinde also added that the state has a shortage of reagents which caused a number of pending results. But he said the state is in the process of getting more reagents.
He said “Due to a shortage of reagents required to process COVID-19 tests, we currently have a number of pending results. Of the 775 samples collected so far, 300 are awaiting results.
“We are already in the process of acquiring more reagents in the shortest possible time, to enable us clear the backlog. We appeal for patience from those who are awaiting results.”
